Choir: We are looking at the possibility of getting a little choir together at Holy Rood. If you might be interested, could you make yourself known to Jennifer.

Exploring Catholicism Thursday at 7pm in the Old School (hall). This week we will be exploring the Sacraments of Confession and Anointing.. Anyone is welcome to attend. Refreshments are available from 6:30pm, the session will be completed by 8:15pm.

Ash Wednesday This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent. Whilst Ash Wednesday ISN’T a Holy day of Obligation, it is a great way to mark the beginning of Lent. Ash Wednesday is a day of Abstinence and Fasting, so (for those not excused due to age, illness or pregnancy) no meat and only one full meal!

What‘s happening out and about?

The Deanery Station Mass for Lent is on Thursday 5th March at 7.00pm.  It will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lincoln church (Laughton Way, Lincoln, LN2 2HE), with Exposition beforehand, starting at 5.45pm. The Bishop will be presiding.

The CSAN Jubilee of Social Justice will be celebrated in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool, on Saturday 20th September, at 12.00 noon, by the Most Rev Malcolm McMahon OP, Emeritus Archbishop of Liverpool, followed by a light lunch and Social Action Exhibition in the Pontifical Hall.

The Pilgrimage of Hope is a national walking pilgrimage for England and Wales with four Ways converging at the Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham, on Saturday 13th September; it is an initiative of the Hearts in Search of God project. The Ways start at the Catholic cathedrals in Cardiff, Leeds, Norwich and Westminster and will bless our nations with a Sign of the Cross. A small group of perpetual pilgrims will walk the full distance of each Way, with up to 20 day pilgrims joining for day stages. The Relics of Saints Andrew, Margaret and Columba will be visiting Saint Barnabas Cathedral on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July, with a Welcome Liturgy prior to Mass at 1.00pm on Friday, and veneration throughout the day until the Cathedral closes at 7.00pm.  On Saturday veneration will take place throughout the day, apart from during Mass or other services, and the Relics will depart after the 6.30pm Mass.  The visit has been arranged by the Knights of Saint Columba in celebration of the Jubilee Year of Hope.

Second Collection: . On the 15th of June we will also hold a second collection for the Day for Life Fund. Every year, the fund allocates over £200,000 in grants, to organisations that which promote the Christian respect for life from conception to natural death, in various ways. This has made a significant impact in local communities of England and Wales.

The Pilgrimage of Hope is a national walking pilgrimage for England and Wales with four Ways converging at the Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham, on Saturday 13th September; it is an initiative of the Hearts in Search of God project. The Ways start at the Catholic cathedrals in Cardiff, Leeds, Norwich and Westminster and will bless our nations with a Sign of the Cross. A small group of perpetual pilgrims will walk the full distance of each Way, with up to 20 day pilgrims joining for day stages.
