Coffee and tea etc. in the schoolroom after Sunday 11.30 Sunday Mass.
Fr David is on Annual leave from Monday. This means no midweek Masses this week or the week after, and no Ordinariate Mass on next Sunday at 5pm. Normal Mass times resume from the following weekend

Parish BBQ: Many thanks to all those who put in so much work for the parish BBQ last Sunday. It was a great success.
Exploring Catholicism If you (or someone you know) might be interested in becoming a Catholic, or just finding out more about the Catholic faith please let Fr David know. If there is enough interest we will run another course starting in the Autumn.
The Government’s Great British Summer Savings Scheme takes place between 25th June and 1st September, with a temporary reduction on VAT from 20% to 5% on children’s meals in restaurants, children and family tickets to cinemas, theatres, concerts, exhibitions and a wide range of other attractions. In addition, there is to be free bus travel during August for children aged 5 to 15 in England. Full details can be found at: https://summersavings.gov.uk
First Aid kits: Two First Aid kits and Accident Report books are available. One kit and book is in the Narthex; the other kit and book are in the schoolroom. Bottled water is also available in the Narthex.
Schoolroom Hire: The amended Booking Forms and Amended T&Cs are now available. A copy of the T&Cs is on the schoolroom noticeboard. Please see Mary Q or Keith for more information.

Rosary: The Rosary is said before the 10am Mass at Holy Rood on Tuesdays, all are welcome to join in.
Exposition and Adoration (Confessions available) Thursdays 10:30am Holy Rood (after Mass)
Mass Intentions: If you want to have a Mass offered for a particular intention, we have “Mass intention Envelopes” at the back of each Church. The Diocese recommends a donation of £10 for a Mass intention.
Food Bank: Tinned & dried goods are always needed to help those families who are struggling at this time of year. If you would like any further information please have a chat with Pauline.
What’s happening elsewhere?
Come to the CELEBRATE festival, a faith-filled event for all the family, being held between Saturday 15th and Wednesday 19th August, at Worth School, West Sussex. Hear inspiring speakers such as Father Roberto Pasolini (Preacher to the Pope), David Wells and Johannes Hartl, experience daily Mass, pray in Worth Abbey: fun and formation for children and young people aged 3-24 each day of the festival, and relax in the beautiful Sussex countryside. Oppose Assisted Suicide. As you may have seen, the proposal to legalise assisted suicide which was rejected by the Lords in the last parliamentary session is returning to the Commons in exactly the same form on Friday 11th September. Our Bishops have asked us to oppose this legislation, on the grounds that it undermines respect for the innate value of life; that it could lead to vulnerable people feeling pressured into ending their lives; and that it risks putting many hospices and care homes in the position of no longer being able to operate. The Bishops have asked us to contact / write to our MPs once again, to express our opposition to this bill. They have provided materials to help us to do this on their website (www.cbcew.org.uk/opposing-assisted-suicide/). SPUC also offers advice on what to say to your MP (SPUC.org.uk/Fight the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill). There is only a short time before the bill is debated on 11th September. Please contact your MP as soon as possible.
Golden Jubilee of SPANNED Our diocesan agency supporting people with additional needs (SPANNED) is 50 years old this year and will be marked by a Golden Jubilee Mass celebrated by Bishop Patrick at Saint Peter’s Church, Hinckley, on Saturday 26th September at 2.00pm. All are very welcome to share this wonderful milestone. The National Conversation is a chance for everyone to contribute ideas about how to shape a more united future for England. It has been launched by the Independent Commission on Community and Cohesion. The Commission wants to hear from churches because it knows that we are on the frontline of community life. We see the pressures on families and young people, the impact of economic insecurity and cultural change, the tensions and misunderstandings between different groups — and the deep desire many people still have for belonging, meaning and hope. Join March for Life UK on Saturday 5th September in London for the annual March for Life. Abortion has devastating repercussions for mothers and children, but its wider impact on the family is often overlooked. It can lead to fractured relationships, hidden grief, and guilt. That’s why the theme for this year’s March for Life is ‘Abortion hurts the family’. Unite with thousands of others at this family-friendly event, where we recognise the value of life from conception and help all people understand why abortion is a tragedy in itself and one that harms the family to its very core.
