27th Sunday of Ordinary Time
Parish Priest: Fr. David Palmer: Tel: 01673 842323 E:mail: holyroodchurchmr@outlook.com
Welcome to our website. Here are the Mass times for this week:

Confessions after Mass & by appointment
Tea, Coffee, and biscuits available after 11.30 Sunday Mass in the schoolroom. Minimum donation of £1 each please.
Exploring Catholicism: This coming session we will be covering the Old Testament in an hour! You are very welcome to join us! The course is every Thursday at 7pm at the School Room (the Parish hall at Holy Rood). Tea and coffee will be available from 6:30pm. Each session will finish by 8:15pm at the latest.
Macmillan: The coffee morning for MacMillan raised £125. So, thank you to all who came or donated online.
Harvest Festival: A harvest thanksgiving service will be held at Hainton Chapel (St Francis de Sales) on Sunday 19th Oct at 3pm. Followed be a reception at Hainton Hall.
Fr David’s Induction: Fr David is being inducted as parish priest of the parishes of Holy Rood (et al) and St Thomas of Canterbury, Gainsborough, next Friday at the 10am Gainsborough Mass. This is a Canonical requirement on taking a new post. He is deliberately choosing that Mass to keep it low key (rather than having a special separate Mass), and to remind the people of Gainsborough that, despite not living in their parish, he is still their parish priest too. If anyone from this side is available and free to attend you would be very welcome.
No Exposition and Adoration this Thursday: Although Mass will take place as normal, there will be no Exposition following Mass, due to a Morning funeral in Gainsborough… God willing normal service will resume next week!
First Aid kits: Two new First Aid kits and Accident Report books are available. One kit and book is in the Narthex; the other kit and book are in the schoolroom. Bottled water is also in the Narthex.
Schoolroom Hire: The amended Booking Forms and Amended T&Cs are now available. A copy of the T&Cs is on the schoolroom noticeboard. Please see Mary Q or Keith for more information.
The Reader, Flower, and Coffee rotas have now moved to the Rotas page on this website.
Parish E-Mailing List: We have set up a new parish E-mail list which allows those who join to be kept up-to date with information in the parish via E-mail. It is a versatile tool and will allow (in time) various groups within the parish to have their own sections. If you would like to join, please just send an E-mail with “Parish List” in the subject line to holyroodchurchmr@outlook.com (You can leave at any time).
Rosary: The Rosary is said before the 10am Mass at Holy Rood on Tuesdays, all are welcome to join in.
Mass Intentions: If you want to have a Mass offered for a particular intention, we will soon have “Mass intention Envelopes” at the back of each Church. However, until they arrive just ask Fr David if you want a Mass said. The Diocese recommends a donation of £10 for a Mass intention.
Christmas Coffee Morning. December 6th 10-12 Holy Rood Schoolroom. To make our special event more enjoyable for everyone, we need volunteers who have ideas for stall and games etc. Please see Fr David with your suggestions. We also desperately need items for the tombola: bottles, chocolates etc and prizes etc for the other stalls. Please be generous and drop them off at the presbytery.
Food Bank: Tinned & dried goods are always needed to help those families who are struggling at this time of year. If you would like any further information please have a chat with Pauline.
What‘s happening out and about?
Young Adult meetings through October. “Growing up in Liverpool, nearly everyone on my street was Catholic. My mum worked in the presbytery which was like a second home to us. And being part of the community was so important. It wasn’t only about going to Mass on Sundays. This has influenced my adult Catholic life with choices made about being active in my parish, volunteering, and work choices I have made. I look forward to meeting with you and hearing some of your stories too!”
Maggie Mairura will be joining Young Adults across the diocese in October at:
• Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham, on Tuesday 2nd
• Saint Hugh, Lincoln, on Thursday 9th
• Saint Joseph, Derby, on Thursday 16th
• Holy Cross, Leicester, on Thursday 23rd
Join together for prayer, community, and input as well as some great coffee! For more info contact charles.archer@dioceseofnottingham.uk

For your information or assistance…
We have two email addresses that perform different roles. Just to clear any confusion here is a reminder.
holyroodchurchmr@outlook.com is the one to use to communicate with Fr. David directly re spiritual, personal, or ongoing matters.
holyroodmr@gmail.com was set up in 2020 to deal with general enquiries, communication generated via the website, and third parties such as West Lindsey churches festival. These emails are initially looked at by the bulletin team and passed to Fr. David if appropriate.
God bless you all,
