Confessions after Mass & by appointment

Exploring Catholicism: This week we will be looking at “The Lord’s Prayer”. You are very welcome to join us! The course is every Thursday at 7pm at the School Room (the Parish hall at Holy Rood). Tea and coffee will be available from 6:30pm. Each session will finish by 8:15pm at the latest.

Christmas Bingo There will be a “Christmas Bingo Evening” at St Thomas More Church Caistor on Sunday 14th Dec at 7pm. (All proceeds will go to the parish). If you would be willing to volunteer to assist on the night please contact Anne on: 07495759122

Schoolroom Hire: The amended Booking Forms and Amended T&Cs are now available. A copy of the T&Cs is on the schoolroom noticeboard. Please see Mary Q or Keith for more information.

Parish E-Mailing List: We have set up a new parish E-mail list which allows those who join to be kept up-to date with information in the parish via E-mail. It is a versatile tool and will allow (in time) various groups within the parish to have their own sections. If you would like to join, please just send an E-mail with “Parish List” in the subject line to  holyroodchurchmr@outlook.com (You can leave at any time).

Exposition and Adoration (Confessions available) Thursdays 10:30am Holy Rood (after Mass)

Christmas Coffee Morning. December 6th 10-12 Holy Rood Schoolroom. To make our special event more enjoyable for everyone, we need volunteers who have ideas for stall and games etc. Please see Fr David with your suggestions. We also desperately need items for the tombola: bottles, chocolates etc and prizes etc for the other stalls. Please be generous and drop them off at the presbytery.

Annual Parish Raffle: We are planning to once again have our annual parish raffle. We are looking for sponsors to donate the first three prizes of £100, £50 and £25. Please let Fr David know if you would be willing to donate. Any other prizes for the raffle would be greatly appreciated too (e.g. bottles, Chocolates, a Porsche etc)

What‘s happening out and about?

St Colette’s Pregnancy Support Centre has been supporting pregnant women in Nottingham since 2021.  If you would like to help with our work, or just to find out more about what we do, all are welcome to a Mother and Baby Open Day, a chance to have a coffee with the team which runs the centre, and also meet some of the mums who have been supported.  All are Welcome, on Thursday 27th November, between 10.00am and 2.00pm, at Saint Paul’s Church, Lenton Boulevard, Nottingham NG7 2BY.  For more information contact Ami on 07547 795315 or email SCPSCUK@gmail.com

As the season of Advent draws near, the Diocesan Youth Service (NDCYS) invites young people in Years 10-13 to step away from the busyness of everyday life and join at The Briars for ADVENTure 2025 — a weekend retreat designed to help people pause, pray, and prepare for the coming of Christ.  The Retreat takes place between Friday 28th and Sunday 30th November, and costs £50.  More information and booking details can be found at: https://www.ndcys.com/adventure-open-retreat/

The Nottingham Catholic Medical Association Mass is being celebrated on Monday 1st December at 8.00pm in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham NG1 5AW.  All are warmly invited to Mass, and to join for drinks at Browns, afterwards.  If you have any questions about the Nottingham CMA, for all healthcare workers, students and retired, please get in touch with Caroline: 0775 7285 888.

Join the Diocesan Finance Team as a Parish Bookkeeper, a rewarding opportunity to support parishes across the Diocese of Nottingham in maintaining accurate financial and Gift Aid records.  Based at St Hugh’s House in Nottingham, this 2-year fixed-term role (with potential transition into Deanery Service Hubs) offers a salary of £27–£30k pa, depending on experience.  The successful candidate will provide professional bookkeeping services, help clear backlogs, and ensure compliance with diocesan standards.  Strong technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clergy and volunteers are essential.  Apply by 9.00am on Monday 1st December via www.dioceseofnottingham.uk/careers/parishbookkeeper

holyroodmr@gmail.com  was set up in 2020 to deal with general enquiries, communication generated via the website, and third parties such as West Lindsey churches festival. These emails are initially looked at by the bulletin team and passed to Fr. David if appropriate.
