Parish BBQ We will be holding our BBQ on the 19th July 2026 at Holy Rood. The event will take place after 11.30 am mass. Tickets will be £10 per Adult, children under 12 will be free, tickets will be on sale from June. Bishop Patrick is visiting the Parish that weekend, this will be an opportunity to meet him. Further details will be available in the coming weeks. Please add your name to the volunteers list at the back of the church so that this event can go ahead. A meeting for the volunteers will be held in the schoolroom after 11.30 Mass on 5th July. Tickets now on sale see Mary Quint. The volunteer roles are as follows:

Second Collection: It’s that time of year again! There will be a second collection for Stella Maris. The Church’s Mission to Sea Farers.
First Aid kits: Two new First Aid kits and Accident Report books are available. One kit and book is in the Narthex; the other kit and book are in the schoolroom. Bottled water is also available in the Narthex.
Schoolroom Hire: The amended Booking Forms and Amended T&Cs are now available. A copy of the T&Cs is on the schoolroom noticeboard. Please see Mary Q or Keith for more information.

Rosary: The Rosary is said before the 10am Mass at Holy Rood on Tuesdays, all are welcome to join in.
Exposition and Adoration (Confessions available) Thursdays 10:30am Holy Rood (after Mass)
Mass Intentions: If you want to have a Mass offered for a particular intention, we have “Mass intention Envelopes” at the back of each Church. The Diocese recommends a donation of £10 for a Mass intention.
Food Bank: Tinned & dried goods are always needed to help those families who are struggling at this time of year. If you would like any further information please have a chat with Pauline.
What’s happening elsewhere?
Movement and Sensory Space Mass All are welcome to the Movement and Sensory Space Mass at Holy Family Church, 108 Blenheim Drive, Allestree DE22 2LG, on Sunday 12th July at 2.00pm. This will be a ‘relaxed’ Mass, specially adapted for those with sensory needs. The celebrant will be Father Jonathan Cotton, and refreshments will be available afterwards.
Join March for Life UK on Saturday 5th September in London for the annual March for Life. Abortion has devastating repercussions for mothers and children, but its wider impact on the family is often overlooked. It can lead to fractured relationships, hidden grief, and guilt. That’s why the theme for this year’s March for Life is ‘Abortion hurts the family’. Unite with thousands of others at this family-friendly event, where we recognise the value of life from conception and help all people understand why abortion is a tragedy in itself and one that harms the family to its very core. Family Mass and Picnic at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey. All are invited to a Family Mass and Picnic at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey on Sunday 13th September. All are welcome to join Father John Church OP, a Dominican from Leicester, for an evening of reflection and conversation as part of the ongoing ‘Go Make Disciples’ initiative, on Monday 13th July at 7.00pm at Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham. Many are familiar with diocesan priests, but Father John will share his experience of life in the Dominican Order and the journey that led him to respond to God’s call. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion, followed by refreshments and fellowship. All are very welcome.
The National Justice and Peace Network’s annual conference takes place between Friday 24th and Sunday 26th July, based on the theme ‘Just Talk’. A limited number of places for young adults (18-35) are available at a cost of £150 for the weekend, on a first come first served basis. The inter-diocesan Padley Pilgrimage will be celebrated on Sunday 12th July: gather at Grindleford Train Station for the Rosary Procession at 3.00pm; followed by Mass at Padley at 3.30pm celebrated by Bishop Patrick. All are very welcome.
Lourdes Pilgrimage Respond to Our Lady’s invitation, and join Bishop Patrick, in the Nottingham Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage 2026. Places are still available, departing from East Midlands airport on Monday 13th July, to enjoy five days in Lourdes with over 200 people from across our diocese. Those with additional needs will be cared for by our health team and helpers’ team. Mary invites us all to come to this holy place. One heart, one voice the annual conference of the National Network of Pastoral Musicians, will take place between Friday 24th and Sunday 26th July at Highgate House, Northampton NN6 8NN.
