First Holy Communion: Natalia age 9 and Nikola age 11 have been taking their First Holy Communion lessons for a while now, you may have seen then at Market Rasen taking up the offertory gifts during mass. Please remember them in your prayers as they will be making their first communion on Sunday 4th October during 11.30 Mass.

First Aid kits: Two First Aid kits and Accident Report books are available. One kit and book is in the Narthex; the other kit and book are in the schoolroom. Bottled water is also available in the Narthex.
Schoolroom Hire: The amended Booking Forms and Amended T&Cs are now available. A copy of the T&Cs is on the schoolroom noticeboard. Please see Mary Q or Keith for more information.

Rosary: The Rosary is said before the 10am Mass at Holy Rood on Tuesdays, all are welcome to join in.
Exposition and Adoration (Confessions available) Thursdays 10:30am Holy Rood (after Mass)
Mass Intentions: If you want to have a Mass offered for a particular intention, we have “Mass intention Envelopes” at the back of each Church. The Diocese recommends a donation of £10 for a Mass intention.
Food Bank: Tinned & dried goods are always needed to help those families who are struggling at this time of year. If you would like any further information please have a chat with Pauline.
What’s happening elsewhere?
Catholic Deanery Choir We are always delighted to welcome new members, whatever their level of experience – there is a place for all, with our members’ ages ranging from 12 up to 80+. There are no auditions, we just ask for a love of sacred music and a willingness to give it a go. We also provide support with reading music and learning listening tracks. Upcoming rehearsals are held on Thursdays on the following dates – 10th,17th Sep; 1st, 8th,15th, 22nd Oct. 7pm – 8.30pm at SSPP, Skellingthorpe Road, Lincoln, LN6 7RB
Leicester 40 Days for Life Launch Evening is taking place on Monday 7th September at 7.30pm, in Saint Edwards’ parish hall, 633 Aylestone Road, Leicester LE2 6TF. Information will be shared about the 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil being held between Wednesday 23rd September and Monday 1st November. The Little Company of Mary & Mary Potter Heritage Centre are delighted to share the exciting news that on Monday 14th September they will be joining Radio Maria UK for an hour from 10.00am, for a special programme celebrating the life and legacy of Venerable Mary Potter. Sister Fillys from Zimbabwe and others will be chatting about Mary Potter’s inspiring life, the mission of the Little Company of Mary, and the Heritage Centre in Nottingham. Home Mission Sunday On Sunday 20th September we will celebrate Home Mission Sunday, a day for us as the Catholic community in England and Wales to celebrate our faith in these lands, and our shared commitment to communicate the beauty and the joy of knowing Jesus Christ. Celebrating the Holy Father’s first encyclical, the theme for this year is “Magnifica Humanitas” as the heart of mission. We can celebrate together the call the Holy Father has placed before us to live out our authentic humanity which finds it’s fullness in Christ. The Second Collection supports the work carried out by the Bishops’ Conference Mission Directorate, supporting our Church in a wide field of service and mission here in England and Wales. Please hold this important work in your prayers and give as generously as you can. Thank you.
CAFOD Harvest Fast Day is being held on Friday 2nd October. CAFOD is the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, the official overseas aid charity of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, and part of Caritas International. More details next week.
Peter’s Pence. Bishop Patrick has received a letter from the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Miguel Maury Buendía, thanking our Diocese for the contributions to the 2026 Peter’s Pence collection, which amounted to £5,936.26. The Holy Father very much appreciates the generosity of parishioners throughout the Diocese of Nottingham, whose donations will help to fund and support the charitable activities of the Holy See.
Year 6 Parents: Don’t Miss the Secondary School Application Deadline. If your child was born between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016 he or she will be starting Year 7 in September 2027. You must apply for a secondary school place through your home Local Authority by Sunday 31st October. If you would like your child to be considered for a Catholic school under a Catholic faith admission criterion, there is an additional step:
✅ Complete the school’s Supplementary Information Form (SIF).
✅ Send the completed SIF directly to the school.
✅ Send the required supporting evidence (for example, a copy of your child’s Baptism certificate) directly to the school.
The Supplementary Information Form and supporting evidence must be sent to the school, not to the Local Authority. The Local Authority application and the school’s Supplementary Information Form are separate processes. Both must be completed by the deadline if you wish your child to be considered under the school’s faith-based admissions criteria. If the school does not receive the Supplementary Information Form and supporting evidence by the deadline, your child may be placed in a lower admissions category, which could affect their chance of securing a place. If you do not have a copy of your child’s Baptism certificate, contact the parish where your child was baptised as soon as possible to request a replacement.
Aid to the Church in Need Across the world, countless men, women and children suffer simply because of the faith they hold dear. In their need, they look to us to be their voice. Aid to the Church in Need has launched its first-ever global petition on religious freedom, calling on governments and the United Nations to do more to defend the right to believe, and to ensure that those responsible for persecution are held to account. You are warmly invited to stand in solidarity with the persecuted Church by signing this petition and giving witness to the importance of religious freedom for all. Urgent: Stop assisted suicide – postcards available The vote on assisted suicide is on 11 September. Not Dead Yet UK have provided postcards you can send to your MP to ask them to vote NO to assisted suicide in the vote in the House of Commons on 11 September. Please take action now – collect a red and white postcard, fill out your details, add a stamp and post it to your MP today!
