Parish E-Mailing List: We have set up a new parish E-mail list which allows those who join to be kept up-to date with information in the parish via E-mail. It is a versatile tool and will allow (in time) various groups within the parish to have their own sections. Becoming a Catholic? If you are interested in becoming a Catholic (or know someone who is) or want to find out more about the Catholic faith, we are hoping to start a new course in September for adults. Please either speak to Fr David after Mass, or E-mail him at holyroodchurchmr@outlook.com

Second Collection: There will be a second collection for the Day for Life next week. On the 15th of June we will also hold a second collection for the Day for Life Fund. Every year, the fund allocates over £200,000 in grants, to organisations that which promote the Christian respect for life from conception to natural death, in various ways. This has made a significant impact in local communities of England and Wales.

Sharing Your faith You are invited on Wednesday 11th June at 7.00pm to join the clergy of our diocese in reflecting on how we share our faith.  Join via Zoom the evening talk from the Clergy Conference, given by  Father Jon Bielawski and Michele Thompson, speaking about the Genesis Mission, a formation programme helping all Catholics share their faith in their daily encounters with the people in their lives.  Bishop Patrick would like every parish to have a representative on the call.  Could you be our parish representative?  To register visit: www.dioceseofnottingham.uk/events/genesis-mission-go-make-disciples

What‘s happening out and about?

Mission Lab: ‘Intertwining vocations’ on Monday 16th June at 7.00pm.  The next diocesan Mission Lab explores how our parishes can become communities where we discover our gifts and vocations and help others flourish in theirs, with an introduction to the Called & Gifted programme. Jubilee Now: a festival of economic justice on Wednesday 18th June at 6.30pm  You are invited to a landmark Jubilee Year event from Caritas Diocese of Nottingham with numerous partner organisations, marking 10 years since publication of Laudato Si.  The keynote talk is by Professor Luigino Bruni, economist, historian and Scripture scholar, with contributions from CAFOD, Santa Marta Group, Christians against Poverty and others.  Details are at bit.ly/jubileenow180625 and register at bit.ly/jubileenow2025

Join Bishop Patrick and families from across our Diocese for our Jubilee of Families on Saturday 21st June. The celebrations will begin at Our Lady of Lourdes, Derby, DE3 9GE, at 12 noon with the celebration of Mass, followed by a Blessed Sacrament procession, a jubilee family blessing, Hog Roast and activities and games for children organised by NDCYS.  Tickets are free but need to be booked: www.dioceseofnottingham.uk/events/familyjubilee

The Pilgrimage of Hope is a national walking pilgrimage for England and Wales with four Ways converging at the Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham, on Saturday 13th September; it is an initiative of the Hearts in Search of God project. The Ways start at the Catholic cathedrals in Cardiff, Leeds, Norwich and Westminster and will bless our nations with a Sign of the Cross. A small group of perpetual pilgrims will walk the full distance of each Way, with up to 20 day pilgrims joining for day stages. Unveiled Faces: Healing and Transformation with the Saints; a Weekend Retreat between Friday 27th and Sunday 29th June led by Father Emmanuel Mansford, CFR at the Christian Heritage Centre, contemplating the healing and transformational work of grace in the ordinary and imperfect lives of the saints.  In the light of their example, the retreat will offer an opportunity to reflect on and to seek healing for the wounds in our own lives.  To book, visit: https://christianheritagecentre.com/events/unveiled-faces/

Nottingham Cathedral is looking for a Conservation Accredited Architect as Lead Architect and Contract Administrator for its National Lottery Heritage Fund supported Restoring Pugin Project.  The Main Contractor is Cliveden Conservation, and the architect who led the development phase has had to withdraw from the project.  The work starts on site at the end of July and completes in November 2026.  Download the full Brief and the Conservator’s report available on the Cathedral website: www.nottinghamcathedral.org.uk  The deadline for applications is 1pm on Wednesday 25th June.

Nottingham Cathedral is looking for a freelance consultant to lead the Engagement and Outreach programme for its major National Lottery Heritage Fund supported Restoring Pugin Project.  The project lasts from now until March 2027.  The consultant should have a successful track record of engaging diverse audiences and building partnerships within a heritage context to deliver an ambitious activity plan; the postholder will be supported by a professional team, and will manage paid freelancers and volunteers.  The job description and activity plan are on the Cathedral website: www.nottinghamcathedral.org.uk

What is God? Philosophical, Christian and Islamic Approaches, at the Christian Heritage Centre, between Friday 22nd and Monday 25th August.  This annual course in partnership with CEPHAS will look at the nature and knowledge of God from a pre-religious, philosophical understanding, before comparing the Islamic concept of God with the Christian, leaning on Saint Thomas Aquinas’ elaboration of the Trinity and the Incarnation.  For more information and to book: https://christianheritagecentre.com/events/what-is-god/

The Health Team who support the Nottingham Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage is in need of some additional experienced team members for this year’s pilgrimage.  If you, or someone you know, is a currently Registered Nurses or trained and experienced Care Worker, who may be interested and can commit to being available for this year’s Jubilee Pilgrimage between Monday 14th and Friday 18th July, as well as for a couple of training days on Sunday 15th and Saturday 28th June, please contact Deacon David Knight (david@sthughslincoln.org.uk) for more details.

holyroodmr@gmail.com  was set up in 2020 to deal with general enquiries, communication generated via the website, and third parties such as West Lindsey churches festival. These emails are initially looked at by the bulletin team and passed to Fr. David if appropriate.
